Jagjit Singh Aurora

Lieutenant General Jagjit Singh Arora (Punjabi: ਜਗਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਰੋੜਾ; 13 February 1916 – 3 May 2005) was the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Eastern Command of the Indian Army during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. He led the ground forces campaign in the Eastern front of the war, which led to an overwhelming defeat of the Pakistan Army and the creation of Bangladesh.
Aurora was born in 1916 in Kala Gujran, Jhelum district, British India (now, Pakistan) and died in New Delhi, India.
==Early life==
Jagjit Singh Arora was born on 13 February 1916 into a Sikh family. He was the son of an engineer in Kala Gujran, Jhelum district, in western Punjab in what is now Pakistan.
